New York State of Mind

This past holiday weekend I was in NYC visiting my brother and sister-in-law. They recently welcomed Charlotte Ivy into the world, so this was my first opportunity to meet my new niece. The weekend was too brief, per usual, but it was so fun hanging with my nephew and the rest of my family.

Saturday night was also my cousins engagement party at Betto in Brooklyn. It couldn’t have worked out more perfectly to be able to celebrate with my cousin and to see so many of my relatives. Although I didn’t snap any photos of the food, I can assure you that it was a great night filled with delicious food in excessive quantities. The dinner ended with some of the most delicious and esthetically-pleasing cake I’ve ever had, from Black Hound Bakery.

Sunday I had my first Shake Shack experience, and it was nothing short of amazing – double cheese burger and fries washed down with a black and white shake. Go big or go home. This meal was only made better with the company of one of Shake Shack’s youngest customers, my nephew Max.
The weekend concluded with a belated anniversary dinner at Campagnola with my extended family. As the pasta samplers flowed like wine, we toasted the changes and excitement in all of our lives.

It’s weekends like these that make it especially difficult to say good bye.
