Recently, my husband made a very accurate observation: my travel plans always happen in clusters of three. In the spring I spent back-to-back weekends visiting ColumbusLos Angeles, and South Beach. Now I’m in the midst of my second run of the year, starting with Kiawah Island, then Minneapolis this past weekend, and finally, this Thursday in St. Louis. All this travel makes for exhausting weeks, and amazing weekends.

The two and a half days I spent in Minneapolis were jam-packed with fun activities. I saw my cousin and her family, met my friend’s precious 4 month old baby, randomly ran into a childhood friend, went paddle boarding on Lake Calhoun, and best of all, celebrated one of my closest friend’s 30th birthday.

Friday we went to Butcher and the Boar. The restaurant has a huge beer garden, perfect for warm summer nights and drinks after work. I tried boar for the first time! It was boar sausage, and tasted much better than I expected. And I was introduced to Crispin, an apple cider beer that was insanely delicious and refreshing – I highly recommend.

We beat the heat with a cool treat at Yogurt Lab, a self-serve frozen yogurt shop. My friend and cousin touted it to be the best in the city! It truly was incredible, with unique options, natural flavors, and an abundance of toppings. I went with the peanut butter and almond, which was out of this world, and topped it with chocolate-covered waffle cone pieces!

My friend’s birthday dinner was at Cafe Lurcat, located in downtown Minneapolis. If you live in or are visiting the Twin Cities, this restaurant is not to be missed. The atmosphere and food were dynamite, and I’m still thinking about Miso Sea Bass and the Apple, Manchego Cheese, and Chive salad.

The picture does not do the Miso Sea Bass justice…
