Oil & Vinegar

When I was home for Memorial Day Weekend, my very good friend gave me the most amazing gift of flavored oils and vinegars from Allspice in Des Moines, Iowa. Allspice specializes in herbs, spices, oils and vinegars. Since I did not know about this wonderful place prior to receiving the gift, I have never visited the store, but I assure you it will be the first stop next time I’m in Des Moines…I know I’ll be like a kid in a candy store!

My friend carefully selected the Eureka Lemon olive oil, 18 year aged balsamic vinegar, Avocado olive oil and Strawberry balsamic vinegar, all packaged in cute bottles with Allspice’s own label. I’ve been wanting to try these oils and vinegars and tonight I finally did.

I concocted a fresh and tangy vegetable dish with the Eureka Lemon olive oil and I am quite excited about it!

Allspice has recipes on their website so I look forward to exploring their suggestions and trying their other incredible flavors. If you’re not making a trip to Iowa anytime soon, Allspice ships all of the country so you too can enjoy their incredible products in your own home.

Haricot Vert with Lemon Olive Oil

Haricot Vert in Lemon Olive Oil

What You Need

  • 1 lb haricot vert
  • 2 tablespoons lemon olive oil

  • Freshly grated lemon zest

  • Salt and pepper to taste

What To Do

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan on medium heat.
  2. Add haricot vert to pan and saute until they are cooked through, about ten minutes.
  3. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle freshly lemon zest on top.
