Kingsbury Street Cafe

With my fairly regular trips to Whole Foods in Lincoln Park, it was impossible not to notice Kingsbury Street Cafe, located directly across the street. Although its been open less than a year, the restaurant is backed by years of producing cakes, sweets and sandwiches at their previous Work of Art bakery. I finally decided to make Kingsbury a destination for brunch rather than groceries, and I was very happy with this decision.

Walking into Kingsbury Street Cafe, I got this cool, casual, California vibe, not often felt in the Midwest. And the brunch menu matched this sentiment with healthy options like Chia Seed Breakfast Pudding, Breakfast Quinoa, and Yogurt Parfaits. I choose something a less healthy but and a little more inventive: the Kingsbury Eggs Benedict with BBQ pulled chicken, poached eggs, spinach, hollandaise sauce, and herbed potatoes. The chicken combined with the runny egg was so good, I literally devoured my entire meal. My friend let me in on a few bites of her breakfast of Whole Wheat Carrot Pancakes served with maple cream cheese, pecans, and maple syrup. Wow! These were quite special, with flavors similar to carrot cake, but with a wholesomeness from the wheat flour.

Kingsbury Street Cafe also serves lunch and dinner, so another visit is definitely in order.
