Lake Como

After two plane rides, one short stopover in London, and a car ride through the narrow and winding roads outlining the edge of Lake Como, we thankfully found ourselves at our hotel in the town of Tremezzo. The natural beauty of the sparkling water surrounded by mountains dotted with a range of quaint houses and breathtaking villas was not to be believed. With the snowcapped mountains of Switzerland hovering in the distance, these unique views are part of what make Lake Como so special.

In two short days we explored the towns of Bellagio and Como, and took a private boat tour, giving us the most amazing vantage point from the water. For our first, and by far our best meal in Lake Como, we tried Azelea for dinner. The unassuming restaurant featured a long list of pizza varieties, from which we selected Quatro Formaggio. The cheesy pizza was the perfect way to ease into our Italian eating extravaganza! For our entree, we shared baked salmon encrusted in cornmeal and coarsely ground peppercorn, and topped with roasted tomatoes – it was incredible!

I cannot believe the first stop on our trip has come to an end…now on to Tuscany!
