Super Bowl Sunday

The Super Bowl is just hours away and I’m putting the finishing touches on my Spicy Buffalo Chicken Balls that I’m bringing to our friend’s house for the big game.

It’s been a nice weekend that included running errands, trying a new brunch spot, and dinner at Slurping Turtle. Tonight will be a great cap to the weekend, which will make going to work tomorrow that much more difficult.

These Spicy Buffalo Chicken Balls are a unique and less messy alternative to buffalo wings. Serve these with homemade ranch or blue cheese dressing and these are sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Spicy Buffalo Chicken Balls

What You Need

    For the balls
  • ¼ stick butter
  • 1/3 cup Frank’s RedHot hot sauce (or other hot sauce of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken (preferably thigh meat)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ stalk celery, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup bread crumbs
  • For the dressing:
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

What To Do

  1. Preheat oven to 450°.
  2. In a small pot, combine butter and hot sauce over low heat, whisking until butter is melted. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with oil.
  4. Place remaining chicken ball ingredients (including cooled hot-sauce mixture) in a large bowl and mix by hand until thoroughly combined.
  5. Roll the meatball mixture into marble-sized balls, packing meat firmly. Place the balls evenly in rows in the baking dish.
  6. Roast until firm and cooked through, about 15 minutes. Allow the balls to cool for 5 minutes.
  7. To make dressing, combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until blended.
  8. Drizzle balls with extra hot sauce and serve with dress and extra celery.
